Today I had the opportunity to attend the Sunday Worship Service in the MET (Metropolitan Bible Church) in Ottawa! My brother and I attended the 11:00am service – wow, so many people!? People of all ages and dominations, literally their main Sanctuary holds about 1000 persons, and even on this holiday weekend it was almost full. Coming from our small community church this was exciting to see and experience. He gave me a tour (this is his church) of the building, which literally has wings for children, a gymnasium, a full library, men’s and women’s ministries, and so much more. There’s full technology solutions in both sanctuary’s and teams of pastors and persons available to assist anyone who needs it.
There’s no organ at this church; instead there’s a grand piano, a band that includes a guitarist, keyboardist and 4 lead singers (with microphones that work). It was marvellous, by the way. So many voices raised in song. One felt very welcomed there, or at least I did. Communion was a simpler affair, but no less meaningful. I missed Mary’s home-baked bread, Lord we are blessed for Mary. And I missed Rev Blair, as we are fortunate to have him and his dynamic personality-infused sermons (he’s better than the MET pastor, just an opinion).
All in all, I’m so glad I got to experience this service; I will go back when and if ever I start to feel that lonely call “where’s all the other Christian’s of the world gathering?”.
