The purpose of our congregation is to praise and serve God. We believe this purpose is fulfilled by:
- Following in the way of Jesus Christ;
- Working together and encouraging each other to live as a Christian community;
- Caring and reaching out to those in need; and
- Showing constant love, and living in humble fellowship with God.
Our Christ Church United Community is comprised of the areas from each of: North-Eastern Dundas County; North-Western North Stormont; and North-Western South Stormont. The main towns are Chesterville, Crysler, Morewood, Winchester and the surrounding rural areas.
Local community history
Our Christ Church Community, officially formed in 2013 is mainly made-up of members of the former Trinity (Chesterville) United Church, Morewood United Church and new residents who have moved in to or area are always welcomed!
Our area includes: mostly single family homes; seniors’ residences; a number of new, multi-resident buildings with more under construction; elementary and secondary schools; a number of doctors and dental offices; a well-equipped, well-used, modern hospital that was rebuilt and updated for about $55,000.000.00 in the early 2000’s; a well-respected, forty year old 98-bed long term care home, that is being replaced with a new, up-to-date 128-bed, $63,000,000.00 home that is currently under construction and will open for residents in the late summer of 2026; (and I might add that out small rural community contributed nearly $16,000.000.00 of the hospital costs, and is currently fund-raising for our share of $18,000,000,00 – with $14,600,000.00 already raised).
We strongly believe the importance of knowing and following the teachings of Jesus Christ, reading and understanding our Bible, as we practice living by our Vision and Mission Statements that we have developed, written and shared.
We live in a wonderful extended community that is caring, thoughtful, supportive and very generous. We have many wonderful volunteers who give thousands of hours of volunteer support throughout our area. Our church office keeps track of our volunteers and their donated hours. It is hard to believe, but during 2024 persons from only Christ Church United donated 5,977 hours of their time to church activities and projects.
